Found a Marantz 8500 on e-bay at a ridiculous low start and no reserve. Watched the bidding for a while and put in a cheeky £250 bid. Ending was late at night so didn't stay up, I expected it to rocket. Seems it went for £290!!!
Can you believe that or was it a scam. Seller was new with zero feedback.
Anyone on here the final buyer?

It was probably a scam, if it wasn't then you've missed out.

If you 'won' and insisted on paying by paypal incuding any fees and the other party refused quoting some crap then it would most certainly be a scam. Most likely wanting you to pay via westen union or another no traceable money transfer.

You can find a bargain on e-bay, I bid on a Sony strda5000es 7.1 amp, and dvp-ns 905vs DVD/SACD player, I was wary as it was a new seller, zero feedback, high value goods etc, but I was prepared to give the seller a chance as everyone has to start somewhere, I won the auction (only one other bidder) and got both these items for £240 delivered! they arrived in perfect, as new condition, original boxes, manuals, remotes etc. I presume that a lot of people were put of by the new seller/high value scenario, but it does go to show that there are genuine bargains to be had if you are prepared to give people a chance.

    Hi RoyH

I was following the same auction. :D
Like you I was a bit suspicious especially when I wrote the seller 3 emails and didn't get a reply to any of my questions.
He was also selling a brand new Sharp LCD TV too with no reserve.

So far as I can tell the seller has not got any feedback from the people who won the items...yet!
