Hi

I'm not very techy, but I've recently had a Base 3 ( DF solutions) streamer wired ( via a network switch) to my imac, router, macbook and Lacie Big NAS drive.

The Base streamer hs "lost" the NAS drive - does anyone know how to re map it so it can be found again? I have worked out how to get into advanced settings ( power, 1 on remote) but have no idea what to do going forward..

TIA

Never heard of this DF Solution Base 3 stuff before, Google says it's a HTPC system with custom front end.

So its a PC which means it's either running linux or windows, probably linux I would guess so tinkering with it would be very complex. They company website is here, it might be worth emailing them asking for help, I'm not sure if anyone around here has experience with this platform.

Anything recently change on the NAS, does the HTPC still see the Mac's if sharing out a folder filled with content ?

Hi,

it's actually Windows - Nothing has changed on the NAS drive - I can still access it from my imac or macbook..

DF solutions have gone into receivership (Jan this year) - Important Company Information | DF Solutions Ltd

Under the bonnet they are not dissimilar to ours but they have locked a lot of the features out so its a tad hard to fix things without knowledge of how it works. They generally were sold to custom installers who had training on such things. Hopefully a custom installer is looking at this thread and maybe able to help.

Could it be your NAS hasnt got a fixed IP and its been given a new IP address by your router and thats why the Base3 cant see it.

found where it says "add networked folders" but this machine doesn't seem capable of scanning, so I've typed in " //laCie-2Big-NAS" which is the name of my NAS drive, but the Base doesnt seem to like this..( in-spite of the on screen prompt saying "Enter a share name (eg: \\nas\audio")

Am I in the right place to be adding the NAS drive? what format should the text input me in? My imac finds the drive as " LaCie-2Big-NAS" which is excatly what I typed into the Base.

Can anyone help with piece of tech please?

there are two elements to the path. the server (in the example \\nas) and the share name (\audio), you need both elements - you have only provided the first element - the server with lacie..... Additionally make sure you have the slashes the correct way - it should be \\ not //

you should have something like \\laCie-2Big-NAS\movies (or whatever share name you are trying to connect to)

Graham,

thats brilliant thanks. it was exactly that:-

\\lacie-2big-nas\movies

and with a save, reboot and exit, and i'm there!
