Now this might have been posted before I ever came to this site, but over Xmas I was wondering about my favourite films, and this popped into my head. If you had to be stranded on a desert island with 5 films - what would they be??

Suppose I'll start the ball rolling. After much deliberation I would go with:

    GoodFellas
    Empire Strikes Back
    Godfather II
    Schindlers List
    Aliens

But so many good films are missing out. Maybe you should be allowed 10 !!!

    Is ten even enough???

My five in no particular order would be...

    Ben-Hur
    E.T.
    Raiders of the Lost Ark
    The Matrix
    Godfather II

and if you're being generous with ten then in addition...

    Star Wars
    Dirty Harry
    The Searchers
    Shawshank Redemption
    Dumb & Dumber

But thats just what's in ma heid (sputnik!!) at the mo.

    HI,

For me, the films would need to be:

    Betty Blue: Version Longue
    Hard-Boiled (John Woo)
    The Insider (Michael Mann)
    Gladiator (Ridley Scott)
An American Tail (I'm a sucker for this kids animation! Always makes me cry...)
    Three Colours: Blue (Krzysztof Kieslowski)
    Deep Red (Dario Argento)
    Chicken Run
    Akira (Katsuhiro Otomo)
    Sirens (John Duigan)

I know some of these aren't actually available on DVD yet, but this is a Desert Island Disc thing after all....

I'd obviously be choosing the films I believe I can watch countless times without getting bored.

But I struggle to think of them!

The ones that pop immediately into my head are:

Fight Club (without any hesitation - easiest choice here)
    Aliens
    Star Wars
    :
I'll have to get back to you on the other 2 ... !

You said films, and not just DVDs, and I'd want a cracking system to watch them with...

    Top 5
    Star Wars
    The Matrix
    Dances With Wolves
    Schindler's List
    Saving Private Ryan

    6 to 10

    Gladiator (the DVD)
    The Lion King
    Toy Story II
    2010
    Aliens

Here are my choices for that desert island...

    1.The Empire Strikes Back.
    2.Fight Club.
    3.Leon.
    4.The usual Suspects
    5.The Matrix.

However being on a desert island i doubt i'll have my THX DD DTS EX/ES sound and projector,so it takes some of the enjoyment out of watching the films.

Heres the next question to ask though who would be there with you to watch them?....
In my case it has to be Gail Porter but if she is not available then i'll settle for Hannah from S Club 7.

    cheers
    PH.

A everlasting bottle of Jack Daniels would be a nice partner !! Although I wouldn't care if I was on my own - then I wouldn't have to put up with people chatting, rustling crisp packets or coughing (my usual experience when I go to the cinema).
