It makes sense.
It sounds a bit like what Kav's post was touching on, it does sound hopeful though, as you may be one of the lucky ones that can actually do something about your depressionupdate from yesterday , she thinks I am catastrophising ( is that even a word lol ) a lot of things , and when I think about it , I am , a lot , if I can't control something in any way , what worry about it , that's the hard part though .......

I am not making light of it, as it is still a very hard journey ahead of you, but it does sound as if learning to think and act in a different way may be the solution, or at least a part of it...Much easier said than done though I know, has CBT been mentioned?

I had problems for a long time then I was hit hard with flu early last year which turned out to be an unpleasant blessing.
Blood tests showed a chronic vitamin B12 deficiency so I get darted every twelve weeks, it has made a massive difference physically and mentally now I understand why I wasn't able to exercise properly which lowered my confidence.
Now I am slowly starting to cook from scratch instead of ready meals etc.
Things like this are sneaky.
The writing stuff I described previously is basically CBT. I highly recommend you try that ABC approach. Like anything, it's hard to start with but gets easier the more you do it.CBT was mentioned at the beginning , she said everyone that who is referred to her is told CBT but she makes her mind up which way to go , so , i'm not really sure how I am being treat lol , I'll need thread up on CBT to see what that entails , thanks .....
I have mentioned getting checked for vitamin deficiencies, it's a lot more common than most think.I had problems for a long time then I was hit hard with flu early last year which turned out to be an unpleasant blessing.

Now I am focused on sorting out my early retirement and getting fit enough to get out, eventually finding one or two things to get involved in.
They'll have to pry Dorset out of my cold dead hands
thanks , that's what the psychologist recommended I do ......Good luck. Why not write it down now to get things straight in your head?
My Dad has given up the booze after years of abuse and is now having severe problems sleeping. He's off to see her tomorrow to see if she can help him. I'll update if it works and maybe it will help someone else.
I spoke to him today and he's feeling better. Been prescribed loads of different things, similar to me after my consult. I'm hoping this is him giving it up for good... Doesn't help that we was brewing it himself!!!that's me to tee to be honest , the sleeping thing is getting ridiculous to be honest , and the vitamin deficiency came from the drinking , now the drinks gone , the vitamins are ok but the sleep is ruined

Hope everyone is OK today. I had my second counselling session today and after I felt the need to write things down and help understand myself a bit better... Well, without knowing it, nor wanting to, I opened the door I've refused to open... Turns out it wasn't as bad as I thought. Turns out I'm doing better than I give myself credit for an now just need to reprogramme a few thought processes, especially when it comes to relationships. I am at 80% of being true to myself and now need to work on the 20%... Getting there though
When I had an endoscopy done the gastroenterologist happened to be a professor doing research into psychobiotics and she tried to explain the role of gut bacteria sending signals along the vagus nerve which affect mood, although it was a bit beyond my GCSE level knowledge of Biology! This may be of interest, a potential link between gut health & mood.
