Denon's HDMI 1.3 Receivers "scheduled for mid-year introduction"

    http://www.hometheaterblog.com/hometheater/2006/12/denons_hdmi_13.html

    .....

Denon appears ready to announce that all of their A/V receivers for 2007 (scheduled to be released in the middle of the year) will support HDMI 1.3; read 36-bit color-depth and 1080p pass-through. But as you might have already guessed the good folks at Denon (and presumably Marantz) have more in-store than just the HDMI 1.3 capabilities for the yet-to-be-launched receivers.

    ......

from what I read there using dts masters for there flagship. So I guess there not going upgrade ours. if the new flagship comes out how many members will upgrade to the new one? lets say it has exactly the same as the current avc-a1xva but just those new added upgrades.

This new Hdmi to be lauched will be capable of trasforming 2 channel stereo to dolby digital? If that is the job this would be very tempting.

    Thanks

It's the new (old!) rumours of a Denon Pre-Amp that's got my interest. Allegedly they'll be showing it at the CES Show in Jan.

I think you may have the wrong end of the stick.

HDMI 1.3 allows higher bandwidth to transfer data of the upcoming Dolby/DTS formats - but has nothing to do with transforming one sound format to another. :)

When Hdmi 1.3 does come out, im just going to buy a pre-amp and connect it to my denon using it as a power amp.

Does anyone have any concrete evidence that Denon has taken the current flagship amps as far as they are prepared to go.

i.e Was the 1080P video board the last scheduled upgrade for this series?

Personally, I doubt there will be an HDMI 1.3 upgrade. It's not actually needed anyway.

I dunno. It's needed in the willy waving world of high end AV amps.

Having more features than the next bloke is almost as important as the SQ at that level and "World's First HDMI 1.3 Amp with built in TrueHD and DTS-Master Audio decoding" will count for a fair bit when it comes to spec sheet one up manship.

Almost nobody really needed last year's 1080p upgrades but that didn't stop them. :)

I talked to denon in Australia and they said no they were not going to upgrade at all, all the upgrading has been done.He then tried to talk to me about the new upcoming amps in 07with hdmi 1.3 and all with the latest audio latest codecs.I told him about reading an article regarding the new flagship amp that they will have dts masters, which he then said "very true and if I was you i will be trying to offload your denon avc-a1xva (which i paid $15000, which included the upgrade) and get ready for the new flagship which will be $15000 also." So guess what? he can stick the new flagship where the sun don't shine, when Hdmi 1.3 becomes an essential like I said before im going to buy a pre amp(Has to be a good one) and still use the benefits of my denon(10 powered channels and audessey placement which is great). Personally I cannot justify losing half of the money and as jase said you really don't need it, I have heard that it is best to decode from the player than the amp(I think there was an article on it also).I think the amp in the U.K is much cheaper than what it is in aus, my wife would shoot me after all the begging I have done on this amp.Personally I cannot see why nobody else would buy pre amp and use your amp as a power amp. What power amp can run 10 channels, why get rid of it when it works fine!

Only useful if, like me, you want ease of use when video switching a 1080P source.

Been waiting for years for them to get back into Processor's. Latest rumour comes from a dealer over at AVS Forum so may well be accurate... :)

Huh, and the same amp - even with a different model number and a different tuner set-up - is much more in the UK than the US. The 4806/A11XVA is $US3,500 but £2,600 - even accounting for VAT, that's a serious markup on retail - imagine the dealer margins. If it's even more in Oz then you have my sympathies.
