Denon Remote Control RC-1117 - how does one dismantle it for cleaning?

I spilled something on my Denon RC-1117 remote control device. I would like to remove the face plate (top piece) so that I can thoroughly clean the buttons (which are now stuck) without harming the electronics inside. All I can find is one Phillips head screw just inside the battery compartment. I cannot figure out how to remove the front of the device, even with the screw removed. Does anyone know how to pull it apart without damaging the remote control and allowing reassembly? Thank you.

Remotes often just clip together. I say just but they can be real buggers to separate. The corner of an old credit card can work well to slide along the join to spring the catches.
