I have a Denon RCD-M38DAB and primarily use it to play from Spotify, through an IPAD mini. The iPad connects to the USB port on the front and although I can use the remote I tend to do everything from the iPad.
Before the iPad I had a Samsung Galaxy tab doing the same thing, but connected to the audio ports on the rear of the unit. Whilst this worked, the volume was limited and the iPad/USB connection has been much better.
The trouble is that the iPad itself is horribly slow after 3 years of Apple "updates". I am loathe to buy another iPad since this one has lasted only a short time and they're not cheap. I'd like to use something like a cheap Kindle fire (I have one already) but this isn't recognised on the USB port. If I plug the headphone jack to the 'Portable' jack on the front of the Denon it gets recognised as 'Portable In' but no sound comes out.
How best to solve this, without replacing the Denon or buying another Apple device?
