I have just bought one of these off the classifieds for £100. I will be using it in interlaced mode via rgb scart. I have read the multitude of posts on this subject and have ended up confused.

Can somebody please clarify:

Is firmware version 2248 the latest available?

Am I less likely to suffer the majority of problems when running in interlaced as opposed to progressive?

Any help nuch appreciated.

I think the problems are only encountered with this player WHEN you're using its internal de-interlacing.

Could be wrong though...

Doesn't really matter - it doesn't play most of my DVD-R's anyway.

Are they recorded in VR mode or Video mode?

Video mode. Some work, albeit with jittery menus, and others don't.

My DVD-2800Mk1 suffered the same problems, freezes, lip-sync errors, blocky artifacts with certain discs whether used interlaced mode via RGB scart / s-video or through component video outputs.
Blocky artifacts were more visible when used in Progressive mode.

Arlen, Texas eh? I have a mate who lives in Pottsbro'.

Small world!
