    Sorry to get you excited but I haven't found the region-free firmware yet (though still extremely optimistic it should be out soon).

    In the meantime you can display which version you have at the moment in the same way as the DVD-2800 by depressing PLAY and OPEN/CLOSE on the player whilst powering on your player.

    Pressing DISPLAY on the remote shows;
    ESS 408
    on mine.

    Pressing MENU shows;
    ESS 6094
    PANEL 6093
    DRV 6100
    for each press, so we now have seperate driver numbers for the display, the firmware and the dvd drive I would guess.

    I would think this would work for 9000/A-1 owners too.

    Boring I guess but might be of interest for someone, and it kept me amused whilst I'm waiting for the hacked firmware to leak out.

    Interestingly www.dvdupgrades.ch claim to have it, and are selling it with a macrovision removal chip for 109 Euros...no thanks! (nein danke, non merci etc!)

    Regards,
    Ian Guinan

    (possibly the dullest post ever...I'm a bit bored, sorry)
