Denon AVR889 Receiver

I would like to know if anyone knows if my Denon AVR889 receiver can be set to shut right down when you push the off on the remote? As it stands now it goes to standby mode and I have to go to the front of the receiver and press another off switch to power right off.

I have installed a cooling fan in the cabinet the receiver is in and as it is now when I shut off the receiver with the remote the fan keeps running, I have to physically get up and push the other switch for the fan to shut off.

Thanks!!

I doubt very much you have a fault or are doing anything wrong...most electronic equipment will just shut down to standby with the "off" button on a remote...it's quite common to have a separate "mains" off button on the unit itself.
Doesn't the user manual explain it?

You don't explain what controls the fan.

You can get remote controlled power switches.

Thanks for the replys! I have looked through the user manual and can't find anything about totaly shutting down the receiver.

As far as the fan hook up... it is an AC fan that I have plugged into the receiver outlet which is in standby mode, which leaves the fan running at shut down.

Any other ideas for cooling down my encloased cabinet would be appreciated. Or, do I really need to? The Denon runs hotter that Panisonic SAHE100 I had before.

Thanks again!!
