Hi all,
First time poster here. I spent all night troubleshooting an issue to no avail and I hope someone here can help.
My Denon AVR, which had been working flawlessly for years, has stopped outputting a video signal via the monitor1 out. Audio will pass through to my surround sound system, but no video. I have done the following troubleshooting steps:
My 4k projector bricked out on me last month and I finally replaced it yesterday, only to find out my AVR no longer works… a cruel coincidence.
Any help is appreciated!

My Denon AVR, which had been working flawlessly for years, has stopped outputting a video signal via the monitor1 out. Audio will pass through to my surround sound system, but no video. I have done the following troubleshooting steps:
- restarted AVR
- checked connections
- confirmed proper inputs are selected on AVR and projector
- bypassed the AVR and connected my source (Apple TV) directly to the projector to confirm there’s no issue with the source or the projector. I used the same HDMI cable that had been running out of the AVR monitor1 to do this.
- performed a factory reset on the AVR. I can’t tell if this actually happened because after I see “initialized” on the AVR’s screen, I’m instructed to use the TV to finish the setup. Since I can’t see anything on my TV I have to exit setup.
- tested the monitor2 out (no video passing through there either)
- attempted to get a proper HDMI handshake by turning on the receiver, and then the source, and then the projector
My 4k projector bricked out on me last month and I finally replaced it yesterday, only to find out my AVR no longer works… a cruel coincidence.
Any help is appreciated!
