    Hi,
I'm looking to upgrade to a £500ish avr and noticed these 2 are the same price at Richer Sounds. Is there any particular difference or obviously better model or any others I should be considering? It's mostly film based viewing but some music and PS4 usage.

    Cheers, Andy

Dali Zensor 3 and Dali centre with 1's as surrounds. Oppo 203 and LG b6 telly. Wish I'd waited for B7 but thats another story. My present avr is a sony 1030 from a few years ago and ive never really liked it. Oh and an old REL sub which i keep low cos im in the middle of three flats. My room is quite big about 20 x 30 feet.

Personally I'd go for the 3400. Has slightly more power, which you wouldn't really notice but has the has audessey xt32. Give it a few months and the 2500 will be £300ish.

Thanks for reply I was tempted by the richer sounds email offer for the 2500 then saw the 3400 at the same price. I might hold on.

The 3400 is definitely a better buy, there is a comparison of the different models on this website (scroll down):

    AVR-X3400H | Multichannel amplifier with 3D sound

As well as having a better version of Audyssey, the 3400 has a few more extra features, including that it will be getting via a firmware update for eARC (enhanced ARC) it also has support for dual subwoofers, and pre-outs for adding external amplification

However, for music listening one of the Marantz models would be better than the Denon's.

The x3400 might drop to £500 at some point. Have you considered the x2400 it's £325 at RS

3400h is a no brainer. Always buy last years better model at a reduced price. Unless there is some killer feature in the new model, which isn't the case here.
