Denon AVR-X1500H - no sound at all - dead unit?

Hi all,

I have Denon avr-x1500h. All was working fine until yesterday (3.12.2021) - after I played Blu-ray via PS5, it suddenly stopped outputing sound.
There is no sound from any input (HDMI, Tunner, Bluetooth). If I connect headphones, there is no sound either.

I have looked to Denon menu info for an input (eg. Tunner) - there are icons about channels that are as input in the signal and what should be on output. Input channels are OK (left, right, center etc...) but output channels icons are "empty".

I have tried "soft" and hard factory reset , but no luck.

When I run setup after factory reset, I got stuck on test tone.. no test tone is heard and the setup GUI is not responding (I cannot select Yes/No whether I hear test sound). I can only quit it to classic menu.

All other functions (video outputs / inputs via HDMI) are working correctly. I have not done any firmware updates.

What can be wrong?

Check main firmware version in Denon's settings, then DSP and Audio PLD. A * instead of a number, means no data/error which is usually displayed when module isn't working.

It says

DSP ERROR 02 as a first status message

Next, there are messages from 1.3 and
DSP is 17.17
Audio PLD: 75.03

There must be an issue with DSP then, which might not be an easy fix I'm afraid. Perhaps firmware is corrupted so chip can't fully boot up. Overwriting fw via usb could fix it, but you can't download the files from their website anymore.

I have reseted firmware to a factory default (with Dimmer, Channel- during turning On) and it started playing.
Thank you very much for your help...
