Does anyone know how I configure my AVR-3805 to decode SACD's ??
It looks like a software update is required to route DVD-A & SACD thro'
the D-link from my DVD-3910. DVD-A works fine.

For the time being (not sure how long that'll be.......maybe someone else can help), you'll need to use six analogue inputs for SACD. With auto configuration the 3805 will switch itself between sources.

You should also need this for DVD-Audio because the 3805 has no inbuilt decoding for DVD-Audio as far as I'm aware.

If it's working via a digital connection I think you're probably listening to the Dolby Digital track and not the DVD-A track??

To the best of my knowledge, there are no amps/receivers which decode SACD's or DVD-A's - the decoding is always done in the DVD player and passed through 6 analogue cables to the amp/receiver for amplification.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

The 3805 can take a digital DVD Audio signal via Denon Link. All decoding, bass management etc is then done by the 3805. Denon Link can also pass PCM, Dolby Digital and DTS. The only thing it cannot pass is SACD because permission has not been given by Sony/Philips.

SACD can be passed digitally via I-Link (Firewire). Some Pioneer's have this, as will newer models from Yamaha, Denon..........

Jase, I stand corrected, as far as DVD-A is concerned anyway.

    Cheers,

    Martin.
