Just purchased a Denon AVR-3803, along with Panny 5 42" and Kef 2005 speaker package, they all arrive next wednesday.

I was wondering if anyone has purchased the 3803 and what their initial reaction was? Any feedback would be gratefully received.

    Thanks,
    Paul.

    Nathan,

Yes I have demo'd it, but how it sounds "in store" is possably a little different to how it will be in my house. Also I have not owned an AV Amp before so I do not have a great deal of experience, other than the comparisons I made, again in the stores, before deciding on the Denon.

I was merely wondering what peoples first impressions have been, particularly as it is a new product.

    Cheers.

    No problem. Here's some tips..

Set the speakers to small. Play some music for about 8 hours straight at lowish volume, that should burn in the amp, speakers and subwoofer.

deightonp - I'm sure that you will be very happy with the 3803. You will find the audio delay fature very useful, especially if you are viewing Sky material.

The manual is a rather weighty tome but that's largely due to it's multi-language nature.

I found that mine sounded a bit bright until after it had run in a few hours but your mileage may vary. Now that I've had it for a couple of weeks it is an improvement on the 3801 I had before and I really like it's sound.

Seems like you are going to have a very busy Wednesday setting it all up. :) The first time I set up my 3801 it took around 3 hours to get all the cabling sorted, but that did include 9 new runs of speaker cable.

One tip, if the speaker cables you use have banana plugs at the Amp end you can still use them. The inserts in the Denon speaker binding posts can be levered out with a jewelers screwdriver (or similar pointy implement). The only downside is that the little inserts tend to break while extracting which may be an issue in the unlikely event that you have to return the Amp.

    i have similar setup.

    you wont be dissapointed.
After reading many reports , users would comment that
the kef sub isnt very good musically.

    well i disagree.

the system sounds great both dvd's and music cd's (played via 2800).

    theres is masses of Bass.

    pink floyd sounds great.

    Enjoy.

    Hi Guys,

I am considering the 3803 because of the delay feature. I have 50" panny plasma and Sky dig and ISACAN Ultra video processor with the usual lip synh probs. Can anyone tell me the maximum delay that the 3803 can achieve as the spec sheets don't say.

    Thanks.

    BigH
