Denon AVR 2106 Amp - time to upgrade?

Hi,

Currently in the throes of deciding whether to treat myself to a new TV and I'm wondering whether it'd make sense to upgrade my amp at the same time.

I currently have a Denon AVR 2106 that I've had for c.7 years. It works fine, but I'm trying to understand what a newer amp would give me over and above what I have already.

If it's of any relevance, I'm considering purchasing the Panasonic Viera TX-P50VT50B TV.

Any advice offered greatly received.

Cheers,

A new amp would be 1.4 HDMI which would allow 3D TV signals to pass through and also ARC so you can return sound from the internal tuner of the TV to the amp via the one HDMI cable. There are other features like networking etc. which may or may not be useful to you. How much would you have to spend on a new receiver?

Hi PSM1,

Thanks for responding.

As well as using it for my home cinema, I also want to be able to stream music and films to it from my PC (via cat. 6 or wirelessly).

Budget would be up to £600. I can pick up a Denon AVR-3312 AV Receiver (last year's model) for less than £600 - is it one of the best ones given my budget?

Thanks,

You will not get better than the 3312 for that money. If you can find one get it quick.

Thanks PSM1.

The one I was looking at was ex-display, so didn't bother. Managed to get one for £649 though, which seems pretty good given the spec.
