Hi, please bear with me as I haven't a clue about this stuff and am probably about to ask a really stupid question! Anyhow:
I have given my son my old Denon 1507 av receiver/amp that has been stuck up in the attic for the last 6 years. When it was in service before, I just ran an HDMI lead from my old Denon DVD player to the TV and an optical lead from the DVD player to the 1507 system. The 1507 does NOT have HDMI sockets.
My son's DVD player does not have an optical socket, so how do I get the two connected so that surround sound is possible? Similarly with any other components that he wants to play through the 1507? Will he need some kind of "box" whereby the optical lead from the 1507 goes in one end and the sources plug in the other end by HDMI???
Or can it all be done with a connection to the TV?
Any answers (to this probably stupid question) will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
