Hi
I have X4700H all installed and sounding fantastic
However just needed a little confirmation I'm reading the manual right.
My confusion is all about the surround mode settings.
If I have the sound mode set to "DD + Dsur" with the input signal dolby digital , will the output default to using dd.
The display on the amp shows DD + DDsur
Does the DDsur in the second half mean the decoder in the output runs the DD decoder ?

Dolby Surround, the +DDSur, will bring into use any speakers that are connected to the Denon. As an example a 2.0 DD signal will be upmixed to use all speakers in a 5.1. Dolby Surround will also upmix a 5.1 Dolby signal to a 5.1.2 if you have an Atmos layout.

When playing discs with a DTS MA HD soundtrack then the Denon will upmix and use DTS Neural:X which works in the same way as Dolby Surround.

Leave your audio setting on 'Auto' by using the yellow button on the remote.

What are the recommended audio settings on the Denon 4700H for mostly movie and tv use?

You need to be more specific. Which settings exactly? What speaker layout do you have?
