    Hi All,
I have recently bought a new AVC-A1XVA half price from my local Sevenoaks in Brighton. I have also bought elsewhere a DVD2500BT blu ray transport. My plan was to set the transport to PCM and use the AVC HDMI PCM facility saving thousands in achieving a high quality HD set-up. However I think I have made a mistake, I thought the transport, when set to PCM would unpack the HD codecs and then send them out as PCM. I believe however when the transport is set to PCM it does not unpack the HD codecs but takes the DTS and Dolby Digital core soundtracks and then outputs as PCM, obviously at lower quality. Any thoughts, should I have bought the DVD3800BD?

Hi, yes you have made a mistake unfortunately.

The 2500 is for receivers with onboard HD audio decoding.

I have the AVC-A1XVA and I use a Sony BDP-S5000es (approx £900) which does all of the decoding.

The Denon 3800BD would do the job for you as well as it contains all the on-board decoders you need.

Take the player back to your dealer and ask for a change or refund. I cannot imagine there being a problem.

    Thanks Anwarsadat.
I will take the player back and get the DVD3800, unfortunately as of the 1st Feb the Denon prices have gone up! I will have to hunt around for some pre 1st Feb stock.

    Thanks Chambeaj for the info,
My local Sevenoaks came up trumps with the old price of a new DVD3800. I rather buy from reputable retailers than the onliners, just look what happened to Empire Direct!

Just out of curiosity, what did you pay for your A1XVA,I only ask because I bought mine last february for £2500.00 from Audio T,including 24 months warranty and was wondering if they still sell for that sort of money ?

Also, any particular reason why you didn't opt for the AVC-A1HD ?

    Price ?..............7 Channels rather than 10 ?

Hope you don't mind me asking
