    Hi all. :)

Considering the amount of good AV amps available these days around the £1000 mark (or less), I was wondering if a Denon AVC A1D in mint condition is worth buying for £600.
It'd be used equally for music and movies, with a 5.0 setup (no subwoofer).

Please let me know what you think. ;)

    My current gear:
Harman Kardon AVI250 THX amp (5.1 input; dolby prologic)
Pioneer DV626D DVD player (onboard DD/DTS decoder; multi-region)
    Mission 774 front speakers
    Gale center speaker
    Boston VRS Micro rear speakers
(no room for a central rear speaker)

Seems a little high to me, especially as the AVC-10SE which came along later goes for around £500 S/H/.

The Denon AVC A1D was a flagship amp, but its probably about 3/4 years old now - I think about £450 would be more appropriate.

Thanks for the reply, puddleduck. :)

I know the AVC-10SE is more recent, but is it better in terms of musicality and for 5.1?

    Hi,

No, the AVC-A1D is superior in 2CH and 5.1 to the 10SE.
I have had experience with both of these models and i would be happy to pay £500 ish for one.

    Enjoy!!

    Thanks Smurfin. :)

In your opinion, what would £600 buy me that is better than the AVC A1D in terms of music and 5.1?

I'll pass on answering that ddlooping, but I'm sure someone else will drop an opinion in:) The reason why I say £600 is too much is because over a year ago I saw these selling for £500-£550.

Oh I see. Thanks for the info. :)

P.S: have you checked the new Sony DA90000ES "Master Master Pro"?
