i've been using the fantastic avr in my conservatory for the last 2 months and its complete overkill so it has to go

note: i do not have a box so collection only or meet up as this unit is minty mint condition and i don't want to risk getting it marked or damaged, complete with remote and instruction encyclopedia :D

Anyone remembering these flagship avr's will also remember them as being described as the best Denon ever made

its as far as i can see totally unmarked condition so will look great on any av rack and will drive more or less everything, you can as far as i can remember, just use the power amp section on its own

these were several £1000's when new so at £225 its a serious piece of kit for the money

Can I send this audio from my TV's audio return channel feature?

iamimpossible: this is exactly what we do !

From the Sony TV we send the audio out via the PCM optical connection into the back of the Denon receiver ( TV Source ).

Then turn off the onboard audio on the TV.

The connector has TOS link connectors on both ends and costs £3 from fleabay ;-)

    hope that helps

no, the volume adjustment would be done on the Denon remote / control.

That's why many people have Logitech Harmony style remotes so the volume / mute buttons are linked to the Amp yet the channel is linked to the TV control.

I had the AVC-A1SR and changed it for a Pioneer SC-LX82 for functionality and hdmi connections. Boy I miss that sound quality! The Denon was awesome.. Not that the Pioneer is bad, just that the Denon was superior. You can still connect this up via 7.1 cables for awesome sound. Just my two pence worth...

it's an awesome sounding avr, ok it might not have the later connectivity but it has the audio quality that's sometimes lacking in newer avr's

finding one in this condition i'd say is nigh on impossible as well

I used to have my Denon AVC-A1SR in that configuration, albeit with a Panny Blu Ray player. Pure sound.. Was brilliant. I don't know if you get DTS HD via analogues, you'll need to check.

This seems to suggest it does..

long shot...£115 is a fair price for an awesome antique. I'm looking for minimum of 7.1 in the interim. I'd need to upgrade again for HDMI and atmos in the future

I've a Yamaha Z9 that's a similar powerhouse lacking Hdmi so added a Nakamichi Av1 processor. Works awesomely as a power amp. I'm currently tempted with something like one of the newer Marantz amps with pre-outs that would handle the .4 atmos channels, all the Hdmi's and add Audyssey etc.
These old Avr beasts are amazing value if you can get your head around a two box solution and for Atmos with decent power you need two boxes as 11 channels of amplification don't work well in one box anyway!
