    Anyone got one?

How would you rate it for both Music and AV?

Also the rear of the unit (fuzzy photo) seems to have an RJ45 connector... how is this used?

It appears to have 3 RGB inputs. DVD, TV and ?

    Cheers

Been thinking of upgrading my 3802 for one.

THe RJ45 is a DLink connection, which is similar to an iLINK connection that Pioneer has. This connection is used to transfer digital sound from a DENON DVD player to amplifier for the amplifier to perform the D to A conversion.

For AV it is the best all-in-one amplifier I have heard.
There are a couple of improvements coming very soon so bear this in mind if you are looking at a new one. This is currently affecting the price slightly.
I'm considering getting one at the moment, even without the changes, if I can find a dealer within 100 miles that has one !

The other good thing is that this model is still being upgraded, so any changes can be purchased later.

How much are they going for now ???

If you are into the £1500-2000 range then I would also consider pre/pro and power amp.

there is a Meridian 561 in the classifieds, pair this with a rotel or parasound power amp and you are in a different league, and with far better upgradability options for the future.

    Just a consideration.

    ummmm what to do :-/

My original speaker budget was c£1k. I had budgetted for an Amp upgrade, but if I do, then the speakers may not be good enough...

So I need to think about the options.

Thanks for all the "food for thought" guys.

there are few new amps due to be released that feature more uptodate tech, such as hdmi/dvi switching prologic IIx etc etc. denon are also due to release a new flagship amp.
would be a bitt off to blow over £2000 only to have it outdated straight away.
    just a thought

I have a A1D, which is an older high end demon amp.

It is the best amp I have heard for music and av so far.

    Stereo performance is unbelievable

    gandly,
if you can tell me where to get one for £2,000 or less please tell me, I can't even find stock within 100 miles that is'nt ex-display (not that that's a bad thing).
At the moment I am being told that the current 'special offer' price is in place to clear the current stock.
I suspect that after this has happened and the newer models arrive the price will probably revert to closer to £3,000.
I have no need for pro-logic IIx if it is a 7.1 system, I only just have room for 5.1.
I also wonder if Denon will release a new flagship amp or if they will just upgrade the current one.

    Steve.

    Gandley,
I was torn between the A1SR and the VSA-AX10i, do you compare the two ?

I've seen the A1SR a little cheaper, but as I said so far only ex-dem stock is available, probably due to the pro-logic IIx upgrade appearing soon.

If you have no need for 7.1 and you are prepared to spend £2k then I would really look at a somthing like the Meridian in the classifieds and partner it with say a Parasound HCA-1205, this is absolutly leagues ahead of the denon intergrated, I am speaking from experience btw.

I'm confused, why ? Do you prefer the Pioneer due to it's stereo performance ?
I've heard the Pioneer AX5i is a little bright, so wondered if the AX10 also was.

I realise it's all down to personal taste, so maybe I should follow my own advice and try again to find somewhere to audition the AX10.

i prefered both stereo and multi channel performance of the AX10
it is close though, but for me the AX10 wins it with feature list as well.
its very easy to navigate and has superb build quality,
