I suppose there's the Denon 2805, and I'm reliably informed that the Marantz SR7500 will be arriving imminently.

I think you might be referring to US model numbers which are different here in the UK.

I'm not an expert on the Marantz models but I'm sure Tons of Fun will look in some time and fill us in with all the news.

    I'm not from US!

US and Europe names will be the same.

2805 is available a time ago, and 1705 is in pre-sale in Germam stores.

    You can check here: www.denon.de

I did notice you were from Portugal, but people find out all sorts of misinformation from the internet ;) A lot of the US/Far East model numbers are different from the European counterparts, particularly higher up the range.

1705 looks interesting but I'd be surprised if it saw a UK release.

As Marantz haven't completely finished their x500 range or AVR's, I'm on an NDA until they are. They look very promising however :smashin:.

Non Disclosure Agreement. The styling is recognisably Marantz with some new tweaks here and there. The innerds appear to be completely new.

    Hi,

There is some more information on the upcoming Marantz receivers on homecinemachoice

The SR8500 looks very interesting for 999£ :)
I hope it will feature iLink as well!

It doesn't carry i-link. No Marantz DVD's in this generation or the next support it so it isn't provided for. It is also very busy inside that thing- 7 channels, four component ins, one out, loads of other inputs etc.

I will confirm that one of the first batch has my name on it :).

EDIT- for those of you wandering on the abrupt turnaround from above, now there is press material out, I can spill the beans.

Very nice indeed. Almost tempted to think about upgrading my 1400 for a nice new 8500

There isn't much more to say- THX select, Microphone setup, 6 digital ins (3 opt, 3 coax), video upsampling (NB NOT to DVI) and a good quality learning remote with it (although now I'm getting to grips with my RC5000, I'll probably send it upstairs). The old SR8300 was IMO one of the very best AV amps for stereo and multichannel music and but for its odd spec (no component switching but 2 scarts  ) deserved to sell much better than it did. The 8500 should keep that musicality and fluidity but add a killer spec.

    Thanks for the information!
Can you confirm the 999£ SRP/December for the 8500?
Knowing that the current 8300 costs about 1499£, do we have to fear any kind of compromise in the new 8500?
Talking about loads of other inputs, will it have phono input this time?
Will there be OSE editions as well?

Sorry for the many questions  , I'm just very interested in the 8500 ;)

    Thanks,

    Yves

Marantz are commited to the £999 price as that's where the serious action is.
I have no doubt that there will be some changes to the chassis and certain fittings to reduce the overall cost but I think that the major saving is that the 8300 has the very nice but rather expensive learning remote whilst the 8500 has the same one as the SR7400 (which is still pretty good).
    No phono stage.
No OSE versions were in my press CD.

Falp- the 4500 and the 5500 grow an extra channel and they have upsampling. Other than that, they are evolutions of the other models.

Agreed with Radiohead. Mine is only a bit of an upgrade brought on by a move away from CRT and a greater need for video switching. That said, I do believe the SR8500 will comfortably outperform the AX3. Plus its nice to support my distributor :).

If anyone wants to offload their SR7300 now for a bargain price please put me first in line. I've got a nice Denon 1802 for part exchange if anyone's interested :)

It was only a small idea anyways. WIth my money being spent on power amps and DAC's and NOT wanting to annoy Miss. Dfour it would have passed away soon and now it is totally dead  Think my next upgrade will be to a proper processor setup to go with my power amps
    :rotfl: and a SVS

I had noticed ;) I don't really have the funds at the moment though, I'll see what can be had in a few months.

DFour, you'll need a bigger flat before putting an SVS in there, your 309 seemed to do the job perfectly well! :)

The new marantz's look pretty cool. Don't think i'll be upgrading the 7400 just yet though. I find it strange that they haven't included the i-link though. Thought it was becoming a standard thing, especially since so many people praise it.
