Hmmm I work in IT and have been "merged" a number of times. There is no such thing as a merger. One company takes over the other. Marketing types and bean counters call it a merger for the shareholders and press.

End of the day who is biggest fiscally, and who gets the top jobs?

They might have two brand names but like Ford and Mazda, common platforms (chipsets etc etc).

Lets hope the best bits of both companies survive.

    Sorry to be so cynical.

I would have prefered Mad'ON as a new name :)

Whenever two companies get together the only real loosers are the Employees, hope there aren't too many casualties.
I was involved in a merger some years ago and I unfortunately became one of those casulaties, not a pleasant experience.

My experience has been exactly the same ... first they say there will be no difference and then within two years it has become one company (usually with the removal of some employees).

Remember Philips owned Marantz, and they never "absorbed" the company.
