I currently have a Yamaha 640 amp powering my MS Avant full size setup.

I am considering upgrading my amp to a Denon 2803, but am wondering whether it will be a good match.

The yamaha has a nice warm sound, but for not much money, I can upgrade.

Does anybody hear run their MS speakers with a Denon amp? Please can anybody advise me whether this is a good idea.

    Any help would be great!

The upgrade isn't a huge amount of money but in all honesty, I don't think that it is a worthwhile upgrade as the absolute performance isn't very big. The speakers will be fine with it however.

    Tons of fun, thanks.

Are you saying that there wont be a noticeable difference in sound quality between the too amps? The Denon retails at almost twice the Yamaha. I would expect a big difference.

    My speakers are Avant 906, 905, 902

The 640 is about £450 list and the Denon is (was) £650 list and to my mind whilst there will be a difference it would not be worth the outlay you'd make to achieve it.

ok, thanks for that. I will probably keep my Yamaha.

I can get the Denon for £250 though which appeals. I will probably get about £200 for the Yamaha. For the sake of £50, or even £100, I just thought it maybe worth while. The Denon won product of the year in What Hifi, along with many other ravings.

Have a demo if that is possible and see/listen for yourself.
