Denon ADV-1000+Tannoy FX 5.1

I ordered the Denon ADV-1000+Tannoy FX 5.1 from HiFiBitz yesterday. Am also getting custom QED sub-woofer cable made. I'll let you all know how I get on with:

1. HiFiBitz

2. Dennon ADV-1000

3. Tannoy FX5.1 speaker system

4. New QED Sub-woofer cable

By the way a question for those who already have a Dennon - was it a hardware/software upgrade to go multi-region? I forgot to ask HiFiBitz yesterday as I want this done if possible.

I got a call from HifiBitz on Tuesday saying my items were in stock. A bit slower than I hoped but within the 7-14 days they originally said. This wasn't their fault anyway since Tannoy only started shipping speakers this week as they did not have UK versions in stock.

The only other issue was that although they are advertising the Dennon as multi-region they haven't had the upgrade software yet. However, they offered to collect and upgrade it free when the software was available. I'm hoping to do it from home though. It's no big deal yet since I only have R2 discs.

Items arrive on Saturday and I will let you know how good they are.

It all turned up on Sat. as HifiBitz had promised. I did start panicing at one point when I couldn't get hold of the courier to confirm they were going to deliver. They arrived at 12:45pm just as I was about to give up. The courier was happy to wait while I opened the packaging and checked the contents.

Setting up the items was a doddle. However, the test tone on the Sub-Woofer wouldn't work until I realised that I had to turn the volume button up on the sub-woofer itself.

Dennon ADV1000 - The picture is fantastic. I had a Sony NS700 before and this is an improvement. The sound for movies is also great. I need to play around a little more with options to set the correct speaker distances. The quality and styling are very good as well.

FX5.1 speakers + stand - The sound out of these is great. They were smaller than I expected but for surround sound they were superb. However, when I put on a couple of CDs they seemed to be lacking bass. Maybe I need to make some adjustments on the Amp. Also I found it difficult to use my QED silver anniversary speaker wire because it was quite thick and the stand base doesn't have a gap to accomodate this thickness so ends up being a little lopsided.
