just tinkering with my new toy.....

have run setup tones and get tone in all 7 channels

i can get 7 ch in 'widescreen' with dd /dts signal -
is this the correct way to listen?

if i drop into dd/dts then i get 5 ch - nothing from rears....

the maunal seems to imply using 'widescreen' for 5.1 sources and THX for EX/ES

hope i'm in the right ballpark......

    any help would be appreciated!

    sound is fantastic whatever!!!

    thanks

    sean

forget "Widescreen" mode or any other dodgy DSP stuff.

Watch 5.1 films by pressing the Dolby / DTS Surround button, and for DD EX or DTS-ES films (6.1 - theres no such animal as 7.1 films) press the 6.1 / 7.1 button (top left).

Agree its a great amp :)

so this will give 5.1 for dd / dts + not use rears?
    and
just get 6.1 from ex / es?

You should definately be getting sound from the rears!

If you only are getting it in "Widescreen" mode it sounds as if the volume has been turned down for DD5.1 / DTS mode. You need to check your speaker settings while playing a DD or DTS movie.

Suggest you read the manual too :)

As far as I remember, if you have chosen the 6.1/7.1 button you will get a mix of the rear left & right speakers through the rear 2 speakers. If you just select THX or DD/DTS then you get no sound through the rear 2.

I'll try to remember to double check this when I get home.
