I am buying my first home cinema surround system and was
considering the Denon 770SD AV receiver and DVD player with
    Castle Compact speakers.

My room size is 20ft by 14ft and I will be using the system
mostly for movies (rather than music). A friend has suggested
that the 770SD system is a little limited as it is 6.1 and does
not suport formats like THX. Before taking the plunge, I would
    be grateful for some advice.

Should I be looking at the Denon 2805 or Pioneer VSX AX3 and
if so which DVD player should I consider as an alternative to the
770SD. I am not too concerned about how the DVD player plays
music CDs, more the quality of the audio and picture on movies.

    THX is not a format...

For what you want may be a fine option.
