Hi
Could anyone tell me if it is possible to use the HDMI for video only and output bitstream audio via a digital coax?

Thanks
Matt

Yes, if I understand correctly what you are trying to do

I have the 3910 connected directly to my display via HDMI and output the sound via the DENON Link to my amp.

Don't see why you couldn't also connect via coax in the same way

beat me to it with the answer.

nice choice of kit guys :smashin: I highly recommend using the denon link

Hi
Thanks for the replies but I am looking for further help.

I am using the LOTR Extended Editions as a test disc, as I have just purchased a pair of rears to utilise my amps 7.1 capabilities. When I am playing the discs via my PS3 set to Bitstream through the HDMI the amp is flagging the DD EX and DTS ES signals. When I am playing the discs through the 3910 with the HDMI set to NORMAL (Bitstream) these do not flag.

Any ideas? Is the 3910 capable of recognising these sound formats or outputting them via HDMI or digital coax?

Thanks
Matt
