Got a 3805 for my birthday, today. Hooked up 5 aperions and a SVS sub today. Went through the setip (WOW) and cannot get any sound at all.
    1) Set the system to dvd and I get picture...no sound at anylevel...no white noise, etc.
    2) Tried the tuner...set to a station with great signal lock...no sounf at all, at any level...not even white noise.

    Set speapers to a&b nothing.

Help. I'm a stupid, old (60) "Yank"...and need help. called Denon Serice...they said...probably set up wrong, try again.

    PS...'Mute' is not on :)

    Hi

Best to try a manual setup first of all to see it's all working. I assume you've got all your speakers wired up to the correct speaker terminals (Surrounds into the Surround A speaker terminals) and your sub connected to the SW Pre-Out as well as an optical cable or digital coaxial cable running from your DVD player?

Go into the Main Setup Menu, (2) Speaker Setup then (1) Speaker Configuration and set all your Speakers to Small, Subwoofer YES. Then go into the (3) Channel Levels. Select Test Tone MANUAL, then go down to Test Tone START.

This will start the Test Tones and you can cycle through each Speaker one by one. Try this and see if you get sound.

Thanks for the idea(s). I will give it a try.
Just seems strange that I do not even get sound through headsets, with tuner on and station that shows strong stereo signal.

    Tried receiver...good lock on signal.
    Tried DVD...picture, no sound.

Speakers all work when attached to a pioneer.

Are you selecting the DVD input using the Video Select button? If so this is where you could be going wrong. Make sure video select is set to source, and then use the source button and select DVD.

Video select is for choosing one video input whilst you are listening to audio from another source, say a concert or sports uing the radio commentry instead of the TV one.

Another thought, on my 3802 there is an output button which turns the speakers off independantly of the mute button, but I don't think that would affect the headphones.

Can you tell us what type of connections you are using? Also, have you run the auto calibration? And did that seem to go ok?

Could it be that you are outputting sound to one of the other zones instead of zone 1?

You folks have been very responsive and I appreciate it.

I gave up and took it to a Denon Service Center for help.
They ran all the set-ups, etc and decllared it Dead....not sure of what was wrong, since they did not take it apart...but they tried all of your suggestions and no sound.

I am sending it in for a new one.

Hope I can be of help to some of you someday.

I really look forward to hearing the new one.

    Later.
