    Hi Guys,

I have read on here for a long time, but now its time to post!
Any way i have been offered a Denon 3803 for £400 from a freind but i was thinking of getting a Yammy AX750SE , Now i'm stuck which one do you think would be the better buy or performance?

    Thanks

400 seems a bit steep for the 3803, offer him 350 and see what he says :)

All in all, the 3803 will have better amps than the 750, but the Yamaha will have more features. Personally, I'd choose the 3803.

The 750SE doesn't have a tuner if that's important to you.

On the other hand if you're looking to go 7-channel, the Denon 3803 does not support Dolby Pro-Logic IIx.

If it were me I'd get the 3803, I wouldn't use the PLIIx... :lesson:

i agree. the 3803 will be better overall. 400 isn't bad. if he won't go down then pay him more.....so to speak.

    I'd go for the Yamaha.

Couple of years ago I did a home trial of Denon (I forget which model, but it cost about £750) and Yamaha and I found the Yamaha gave a much better surround sound - particularly PLII and Neo:6. I also found the Denon sounded rather flat for music and the bass recessed. In DD or DTS the Denon improved, but the Yamaha was still better - more exciting and it enveloped me in sound better.

I was a bit suprised at the time as WHF was raving about the Denon. Maybe the Denon was smoother - but I thought it dull.
