Denon 3803 setup tip

    I know this sounds damn obvious to anyone who owns a 3803 but I thought I'd mention it.

    When playing DD/DTS material from DVD go into the surround parameter menu & check you have tone defeat set to 'on' as the factory default may be to 'off' with bass & treble at 0db.

    I found this simple change resulted in a more open dynamic sound - quite a significant improvement.

    Honestly I'd be interested to know if I'm imagining things but it does sound better to me.

    (obviously EQ & dynamic compression are off)

    You may find that you have this option on all the other modes as well, if it's like my Denon. :)
