Hi All,

I thought the subject may catch your eyes :D

What AV speakers would any of you recommend to partner a Denon 3803 ?

The speakers must be small and unobtrusive (to keep the wife happy !).

The KEF 2005.2 eggs are obviosuly high up on the list but are there any others would benefot more from such an amp ?

Thanks for your help !

I'm not going to be much help except that i'm looking for some decent speakers to.

Got the same amp back in May of last year and have been reluctantly been using my old 4ohm yamaha sats.

It's about time I changed the speakers. Been looking around the net for some good reviews.

I have so far got these on my short list

ENERGY TAKE 5.2

MISSION M3S and the discontinued m70

INFINITY OREUS

They must be all wall moutable, so the Kef 2005.2 are out of the question.

PErsonally i think Orues are excellent for the money but for other similar suff look at canto CD2 (could be 1.22) or CD1 for wall mounting also B&W VM1 and Gallo Adiva and micros

The local Seven Oaks has Monitor Audio Radius system - haven't heard it though.

Would this be a better partner to the 3803 ?

The guy mentioned they were 120W per channel on the Sats and a 100W Sub. Would this mean they can appreciate the additional power the Denon over say a Yamaha 640 which seems to be the most popular partner for the Eggs - according to SevenOaks again ?

Hi Manwithaplan,

Just to let you know the KEF KHT2005.2 are wall mountable. The foot is designed to be used in this config.

Cheers

Kef 5005 would complemet the 3803 nicely.

I auditioned them with the Pio AX5 and loved them.

£1200 RRP but you can get them for around £1000 - I've just picked up mine.

Thanks All.

The KEF 5005 are tempting but a little too big to be stuck on the walls at the rear - probably fine for the front though.

The Infinity Oreus also sound good but I can't find anywhere near me that stocks them !

Don't like the Energy Takes as they are too black !

now all i need to know is what would go better with the 3803, the infinity or the kef's.

Size wise the kef's seem smaller.

I take it that the Qed Silver Anv speaker cable is to every ones tastes

kefs are less tall but stick out more from wall on their brackets, than orues which are about as wide and longer. (and sound better;))

North london, should be few places selling oreus on TCR,
Harman Consumer UK Borehamwood +44 208 731 4670 +44 208 731 4699 [email protected]
This is the distributor, give them a call and they should be able to tell you where you can demo the Orues, ~(unless you fancy a trip to cardiff)

If I travel a bit, I could get to listen to the Oreus package but looking at their photos, they look similar in size to the 5005's, probably a bit shorter.

I think I have narrowed it down, from an aesthetic point of view, to the :

1) KEF 2005.2 (250W Sub)
2) KEF 3005 (300W Sub)
3) JM Lab Sib & Cub
4) Monitor Audio Radius : 4xR90 and 1xR180 (as per Sevenoaks) plus maybe a sub from another manufacturer
5) Monitor Audio Radius : 3x180 and 2x90 plus some sub

Out of the list of combinations above, which ones would you recommend ?

I think it would be worth the trip as they are a lot better looking in real life, the dont photo well even in the brochure!

Thanks Ian.

have been contemplating going to the show.

The decider will be whether I can hold off the temptation of buying the speakers before then :D
