Ok, just weighing up which receiver to by, pretty sure it's the denon...BUT the onkyo TX-DS696 seems pretty good too - have any of you got any opinions on this receiver?

cheers

I would have a good look at July edition of HI-FI Choice. It's put me off buying a 3802. But at the end of the day, your ears are the best judge of all.
Good luck!

pcookie,

what does hi-fi choice say about the 3802?

Onkyo and Denon have a radically different sound. Most Denons have strong bass and control and Onkyo is much more treble-oriented, having a less composed, but more lively sound. Possibly, the livelyness of Onkyo might grab you, or you are put off by its more "shouty" sound, depending on taste.

Don't buy TOO much into magazine reviews. They can be misleading sometimes. Trust your own ears and listen with your own music/movies and speakers/sources.

cheers garmtz, i think i'll stick with the denon -not to keen on 'shouty' amps!!
