    I demoed the Denon 3802 with B&W 603s3, 601S3, LCR60S3 and ASW 600.
I liked it's DVD performance, but it will not be used for DVD's only, I play a lot of music too.
Just as the reviewers said in What-hifi august 2002 edition, the Denon is a bit soft in normal stereo.
According to the comparison in the magazine, the Sony is supposed te be a bit more articulate in stereo, I am reading the same in other threads in this forum

The problem however is that over here, there are no shops that have the Sony standing around, they can order it, no probs, but only if I will buy it.

Would you say I should order and buy it in stead of getting the Denon?

I think the 3802 is absolutely fantastic for 2ch audio, I use it with 602's. What Hi-Fi contradicts itself several times regarding the 2ch performance of the 3802. For some comparison it sounds vastly superior to my Sony NS-900V for cd playback which is praised for it's 2ch abilities.

Sorry Dom I tried the 3802 with 602's and found the Denon sound brittle, dull and lifeless. I haven't heard the new Sony yet, but if it sounds anything like my cousin's Sony 940R stereo amp, it will be wicked. My Arcam AVR200 was clearly superior to the Denon in the demo I had last Saturday...so I bought the Arcam and love it.:)

    Have I missed something here?

The Denon 3802 is an amplifier and the Sony NS900V is a DVD player - how can you compare the two on the grounds of CD playback, and say one is better than the other?

I'd go for the Sony myself, just marvel at those gold plated connectors!

I meant using the internal dac of the receiver versus the sony's which I presume if we are talking about 2ch quality we are reffering to decoding abilities.
