got a denon 3802 amp to replace my pioneer amp which used to display +4db when watching a film in dolby digital, the denon instruction book says this dialogue normalization is achieved automatically when playing dolby digital program sources, but ive never seen the display state 'offset +4db' etc.

is this normal, i dont listen at reference level normally -30db from reference.

    thanks

Thanks for the reply. The manual states the dialogue normalization status can be displayed by pressing the 'status' button on the amp, ive done this and cant find any info on the dialogue normalisation.
No problem with it not showing it, the amp is excellent !

My Denon flashes it up on the display onces it starts to decode the Dolby signal. Presumably if the 3802 shows it when pressing the Status you have to keep pressing the button until it shows OFFSET +4db or whatever. :)

I don't remember my 3801 (same as 3802 but without Dolby PLII) having the feature so maybe the manual is wrong??
