About to purchase a 3802, people rave about them, do any of you 3802 owners have any dislikes. Surly it’s not perfect!

    I borrowed a 3801 for a day once and noticed 2 things

    1. Breakthrough from the tuner.

    2. The status button did not show audio format i.e. 3/2/.1

I also read on the audio review site that the Sub does not work in PL2 (might just be cinema mode) can anybody confirm this.

    Many thanks

my sub works in DPL2 as well - I tried it out today.

In fact my sub is just 4 bass shakers at the moment, and they are powered by a stereo amp which gets its feed from the LFE out of my 3802 (via a one into two splitter). They were rumbling quite nicely. :O)

It was working today when I was testing my new wireless digisender - I'm using it to get Sky Digital into my loft theater room. It seems to work OK, but I still need to play with it some more.

    Gary.

So Gary or Carlos thanks for the reply, what about tuner breakthrough any?

And can you tell the format of the Digital source?

I know that amplifiers from Sony & HK have displays showing which speakers / channels are active. But could not find any way of telling on the 3801.

    I haven`t noticed any tuner breakthrough !!

You are right about the lack of channel I.D i think this is only found on the bigger Denon amps, It does indicate what the digital source is i.e...DTS, DTS 6.1 DD, DD EX etc.

    Cheers Carlos

With all the views I cant believe I have not had more replies you must really love it.

I though I would get some nit picking replies like “The volume display is a bit small and hard to read across the room” or “the remote is a bit pants”

Perhaps Denon has come up with the perfect A/V receiver (for that price)

Now if only I could find someone with stock !!

    Yep pretty much :)

The small volume display doesn`t matter i go by loudness not what a display tells me. ;)

I know what you mean about availability as i have a friend who`s trying to track one down, I picked mine up just at the right time before any reviews were published .

Good luck hope you get one soon.

    Cheers Carlos
