    Hi Guys,

    I've just upgraded from a Sherwood Amp ( 6095RDS ) to
a Denon 3802. The difference has been amazing! I have added
2 more speakers to make up 6.1/7.1 and here's my question....

DTS ES Discreate & Matrix work 100% however DD EX seems to
work but the AMP never says [Dolby D Ex] it just days [Dolby D]

I think it might be because the amp is not THX certified and therefore Denon are not allowed to use the [EX] part but if anyone knows different please let me know.

The amp should say something like "Dolby 6.1 surround" it wont say EX. Only the higher end Denons with THX, display "THX Surround EX"

There was something in HCC last month about a problem that DD had with certain makes of amp when detecting the EX flag that muted the sound so many of the DVD authoring flags have dropped the auto detect flag from the discs and it will therefore not show on the amp.

I have noticed that even though the 3802 does not display DD EX just DD with EX encoded disks the signal detect light will light up thus telling you it is a DD EX disk.i.e Peal Harbour R2. It's a bit of a downer cos it would be nice to see DD EX on the display.

    Thanks Guys,

I love the amp !! .. I'm hoping to upgrade my fronts soon I have Tannoy P30's .. I have a Coda 80 Center speaker & 4 Tannoy MX2's at the middle / rear of the room.

I don't know how the P30's compare to the more modern floorstanders, can you recommend any that might improve on what I've got ?

The P30's are ok but one is slightly damaged so I'd like to replace.
