denon 3802 auto or not

does the auto button on denon pick the correct sound setting for amp or only remember previous settings, ie if i play vhs tape sometimes panel display shows pl2 movie other times just pro logic, also tried r2 of seven want to play the discreet vertion, the front display shows es descreet dvd other times matrix 6.1 also is widescreen 7.1 a denon a pl2 mode i am still trying to (decode from the manual what all the various sound modes are) thank you

The Denon amp has an Auto Mode and Last Function Memory

Auto mode.........Selects the analogue and digital inputs for the different sources you have selected.

Last Function Memory......... this stores the input and output settings as they were before the power is switched off, If you switch off with VCR Widescreen selected, VCR Widescreen will be selected when you switch back on.
