I've just bought a 6th KEF Egg speaker to use as the rear centre channel for 6.1 on my Denon 3802.

Since there are two 'B speakers' on the Denon does it make any difference which one I connect it to?

Is there anything I should be aware of as I make this tip toe journey out of 5.1 and into ES/EX territory.

    Many thanks in advance.

I fairly sure it doesnt matter which one.

The EX / ES signal is mono anyway so it is the same signal being sent to both speakers.

IF you are using DiPoles on the rears and sides there is a school of thought that you reverse the L&R on the Backs to cancel out dead spot or something - but if you are using 1 speaker your OK.

On the A1SR I need to connect it to the Left Rear output as I'm only using one rear centre - unless I select two from the speaker setup of course, as it then outputs on both channels.

The 3802 may or may not be the same ;)

Well I think I guessed right :) Connected the single speaker to the L terminal of the [Surround Back / Multi Room] terminal. Entered the menue and set surround back speakers to on and to single.

Inserted Gladiator DVD and the amp switched to DTS ES Matrix
Nice n Easy in the end (not counting having to rip out all the skirting that i only put down 2 weeks ago, in order to lay another cable... DOH)

The scene where the gladiators first go in to the arena in (I thin) tunisia has an ox head fighter swinging a flail. The extra speaker really does lend itself to the sound of the flail 'whooshing' around you in a complete circle.

    Regards

You think that was good, wait till you hear DTS ES discrete.

You will find it works well on some soundtracks but not on others.

    Happy listening.

    Cheers bob

The discs Bob has mentioned are all Region 1 apart from Se7en which is DTS Discrete in both R1 & R2.

The Haunting is an awesome soundtrack, probably the best.:)

I have just got The Haunting from Future Entertainment (from another post I heard sound was excellent but the film a bit crap). Unfortunatly it must of been late and I ordered the DD not DTS. I didn't realise until I put the disc in the player and was mortified! Anyone fancy buying this so I can justify ordering the DTS one?

Concerning the original question, page 8 of the 3802 manual confirms that you connect a single rear sapeaker to the left channel.
