Will this amp be ok with kef KHT3005SE speaker package.
Ant one got this set up
It will be more than ok. It's a bargain at its current price.
There is an owners thread if you have any specific questions:
Batpig's guide is also worth downloading.
Is the Denon 3312 and the Maranz RS7005 the same amp
looking at the manual for both they do look similar
Same electronics very similar front end graphics. The analogue sections are different. Marantz uses different amplifier modules with their own patented version of current feedback in their amps, different power supply. Also the Marantz build quality/look is a bit better and it's made in Japan whereas the Denon is made in China.
I thought that the Denon 3xxx series were all made in Japan and it was just the 1 series was made in China. Sure I read that somewhere but of course I could be wrong
If you had the choice which amp would you go for out of these two
Denon 3312 and the Marantz RS7005
Not sure about the Marantz but loving my new 3312 i picked up to go with my Kef's
lovely step up from my old Onkyo 606
Nope most stuff is made in China including the lower Marantz models. The denon anniversary models and i think the 4311 are made in Japan.
the Marantz does look rather tasty, but looks are not what you buy amps for. You really need to demo them both with your speakers, especially since these amps are not a cheap impulse purchase.
For what it's worth the Marantz Sr7005 is based on the platform of last years Denon 3311, but they
- upgraded amps to a level of performance better than than what was in the 3311
- put it in a different exterior
- provided better remote control with better layout plus backlighting, which the Denon doesnt have
- assemble in Japan in Marantz's own factory, whereas the Denons are outsourced to assemble in China
This years Denon 3312 has basically a bit worse amplification than the previous year. Cost cutting is the rage I guess, to meet a lower price point. So that puts the 3312 it a step behind the 3311 actually.
If you look at the detailed expert reviews of these 3 units, you'll find that that particular Marantz SR7005 produces more power and cleaner power than the it's Denon cousins. That's measured and proven, so its not just a rebadging of same product. Fair enough to Marantz there.
The difference in amplification Most relevant if you are using in a large room at loud volumes, or if you have relatively inefficient and low-ohm speakers.
So no, I would not simply say these three receivers are the same. That Marantz is a clear step up to a different level of quality in the amplification compared to the other two. Probably important mostly if music matters to you, or you will play TV/Movies loud in a big room AND you have difficult speakers. In which case, I'd get the Marantz.
In this case those KEF's dont look like they would need much to power them, so either of the Denon's will do fine. In your case, only benefit you'd really notice on the Marantz would be a better remote. But tought to justify that at about twice the price.
Received my SR7005 from Peter Tyson today. It says on the box, "MADE IN CHINA", so I'd guess they don't make them in Japan anymore, or they make some in both places!
Seems the switch was made late in 2011.
Sadly it's too tall to fit on my TV cabinet so aside from some stereo testing today, it's back in it's box until I source a new unit!
That's terrible. May have something to so with the catastrophe in Japan last year, but still at that price point, you'd expect they could have afforded to give the sweatshops a pass.
