I have been lookin for the thread on finding out which version of the 2800 mk2 player i have some have said you have to check the serial no, but how do i tell by the serial number mine has 10 digits.

Is it to do with lasr 4 digits being over a thousand for the gold version.

Sorry to hijack this thread, but is there a decent PAL progressive hack for the 2800 MK II yet?

By decent, I mean one that doesn't give horrendous lip-synch problems.

My (firmware upgraded) MkII is just sitting in its box. I find the PAL progressive picture unuseable due to lipsynch problems, but I'd love to be able to fix it......

Ok i finally found out what the serial nos were and which to look for, as you know there are 10 digits in the serial its the last four that count, basically they have to be over 1000 for the gold denon 2800 mk2 mine is 2856:clap:

Which means it has the latest upgraded laser and when combined with the latest firmware it is supposed to eliminate all the defects:eek:

I'd love to hear that someone is using a Mk II with progressive scan for both NTSC and PAL (multiregion obv.) and has experienced no lip-synch errors.

    Please may it be possible....!

I'm an answer to your prayers!! View my 2800MK2 via progressive component o/p through a Sony VPL-VW10 projector. No problems at all with PAL or NTSC.

    What's the secret then?

Have you had a recent hardware mod or do you know of a new firmware upgrade?

    Please tell.........

I'd be interested in a proven firmware upgrade for my Denon too if anybody has the files lying around...

Bought a 2800MKII to semi-replace a Tosh 900E for this very purpose - i think i've caught the downgrade bug!?!?!

My 2800 mk2 has microprocessor version DVR 1-69-0. the software version is ESS 91 04-3. If it is relevant the serial no. last 4 digits are 1538. As posted previously, software from Creative Audio, Shrewsbury.

    Hope this helps

    Thanks

    1) Press "PLAY" and "OPEN/CLOSE" while while pressing the power button on (on the machine, not the remote)
    2) Press "MENU" on remote
    3) Player display will show microprocessor version (DVR *-**)
    4) Press "MENU" again
    5) Player display will show software (ESS****) version
    6) Power off and then on before you use the machine again
