denon 1930 over vga port ??

Mrs is going to buy me the denon 1930 for xmas.... it will be connected via component from dvd to amp and then the lead from amp is component to vga lead, plugged directly into vga port on screen.... will prog scan work through the vga port or will I have to connect component from dvd directly to screen(this way I would have to buy a component board as well)
