Can i use the new Dennon 1920 dvd player as a surround sound amp by just plugging the 5.1 speakers into the back of it. Or do i need an amp/receiver. If i can what speakers does anyone reccommend
Thanks guys :)

Yes it will accept inputs directly from speakers.

I have the sony 900NV is it worth buying the Denon 1920 as a replacement?

The Denon does not have amplification so it won't drive speakers - you will need an amplifier.

Dextercat is definitely spot on - the 1920 is a DVD player and has no internal amplification - you need an external amplifier or receiver.

Here is a link to the 1920 specification on Denon's home page.

Cheers,

Martin.
