It comes with 1.17, but one that is set to region 2.

You can check your firmware version by pressing 1, 2, 3, 4 then display on the remote

hi there,

has anyone tried this region free firmware using an rgb scart connection? the place i bought the player from (supposedly multi-region) sent it as region 2, and when i queried it, they said that the multiregion firmware stops the scart from working or makes it unwatchable.. can someone confirm this for me please?

Thanks

Marc

I wanted to try this firmware upgrade too - I have mine connected to LCD using HDMI to DVI cable - I too am worried it may screw up the viewing. Have you tried it with success?

Totally worked for me. Plays all regions, mine was 1.17 version FW already and still is except now pressing "1234 then display" tells me 1.17 region 0

Oh ok the first post seemed to imply this...

Apparenytly my screen supports HDCP through the DVI port only, not through the HDMI one...

if I buya HDMI-->DVI cable, would this work..? :)

How do you turn HDCP off on the 1920 then??

You can't turn it off.

So what about the Sammy 950 hack, which turns off HDCP, and the LG 9900 one?

I'm only interested in getting rid of HDCP so that I can enjoy 720p and 1080i through the component outputs to my non-HDMI equipped projector (it still supports these resolutions via Y Pb Pr)

Any feedback ?? Copied file to CD with Nero and also tried copying with normal XP - both copies gave me a disk error message when running on DVD player.

Is your file .ISO extension? I had the same problem using another file extention, but when I tried ISO it worked.

The only issue with 1.17 firmware it's that HDMI connection with LG LCD panels won't work with pal material. Tested with NTSC region 1 discs and worked fine. Now waiting for a newer DENON firmware to overcome this, or a newer LG LCD firmware. If your LG panel has DVI Connectin you can have HDMI -> DVI instead of HDMI -> HDMI.

yeah thats an LG problem, not the Denon
