Denon 1920 and Yamaha RX-V357

Have posted this here as well as it covers DVD's, also in Amps and Receiver forum, hope you dont mind.

Just a quick question and it may sound a bit daft, but the Denon has capabilities to scale movies to 720p and 1080i, but I am thinking of getting the Yamaha RX-V357 AV Receiver, so if I bought the 1920 and the RX-V357, I presume I would connect via componant between the Receiver and the Denon and then the Receiver and my plasma, would it still work in the scaled images??? Or would I just be better of with a fairly good progressive play DVD player???

Any help appreciated.

Thanks, James.

I think the denon only scales via HDMI and the 357 doesent have HDMI inputs. so you may have to connect the denon directly to your display.

The RXV357 will handle a player with component output at that resolution. If the Denon is via HDMI only then as said, connect it direct to the display.

Right I see what you mean, excellent thanks for the info, so the Denon needs to be connected direct to the Plasma via the HDMI lead and then audio to the amp, then it would give a great picture and some good sound through the amp?

Or would I be better going for the Denon 1720 progressive player??

Thanks, James.
