    Hi all,
I have posted a couple of times about the denon 1905 and how great it would be to buy it, blablabla... but now I have a problem... according to superfi where I ordered it, denon uk is out of stock, and probably will be until the end of this month. While it's not a real problem, I still want to look for alternatives that would be as good/better for a similar price, or even a bit more, 300 auid being the maximal limit.

So, is there a good amp out there that would cope well with movies and stereo music (given the budget and price range of course)? I had a marantz PM 4200 so that is my current reference for stereo sound (nothing exceptional but great for me).

May thanks for helping me out on this one : )

is the 650 (at zhich I had had a look some time ago) good enough musically, when compared to what I had planned? I'm definitely not looking for miracles, but something descent nevertheless. Importing stuff is not really my thing so the 750 is off budget.

I bought the 650 recently. Musically, I found it to be poor to start off with. Once I added a subwoofer though, the quality improved dramatically. Now I am more than happy with it!

Sony DB790 or 795 are something to think about. Reviews have told it to excel in music also, in its own price class. Marantz 4500 is also very good with music (I've heard, a bit warmer than Sony) Denon is said to be brighter, so it's up to your speakers and taste.

Unfortuantly many owners fo the new 795 have reported buzzing coming from there amps :( Im not sure the 4500 is in his price range either. Would be worth looking at if you could find one though :)

Have you actually rung any other stores as Superfi seem to be quite expensive for this amp - www.digitaldirectuk.com have it listed at £227 delivered!

thanks for all your help, it's very appreciated!
The denon 1905 was the amp I wanted, but denon are officially out of stock until the end of the month. I'm moving unto the yammi rxv 650, intend to buy a couple of good speakers next month, but will go with the rears for now... sounds strange but otherwise my budget is blown ^^

It might sound okay-ish at the beginning I'm sure but miles from what used until today for the last 6 months... a dell PC speaker set up with sub... aaah even thinking of it gives me the creeps.

I hope that I'll be happy with it ^^

thanks all, I'll let you know it it's going on monday!
    have a good week-end
