Anyone care to comment on whether or not the 1740 is a better player than the 1920? I have had the 1920 for quite a while and it has served me well. Now considering the 1740 as a replacement.

If you want a better replacement, get a 3910 second hand... it'll cost you about £150 and wipes the floor with the 1920. (I had both for a while, sold my 3910 to help finance new Bluray equipment, the 1920 lives in the bedroom now). If you really want an improvement, get a Bluray player. The Panasonic BD30 I had after the 3910 was much better for DVDs alone, plus you can watch Blu's too :) A PS3 will be arguably better for DVDs too.

Sorry can't comment on the 1740, but I doubt there is going to be any significant improvement over the 1920.... well not worth spending the money on anyway.

Cheers,
Mik

The 1940 would the logical replacement. The 1740 is a budget model and would probably not be better than your 1920.
