Picked up a copy of a home cinema mag in smiths and it had a review of the denon 1705.

Although the amp scored well in the connectivity stakes the reviewers were less than flattering about its music and movie performance -- the power on five speaker mode went down to a pretty low 25W (despite manufacturers claims)

Before this, I had decided on a sony 795 -- but the buzzing problem put me off

then i was thinking about the denon 1705 -- but this latest review's put me off.

Re denon 1905 -- will this be substantially better than 1705 or does it just have more features.

    any pointers gratefully appreciated...

i've got the 1705, only have the front 3 speakers connected at the mo (aegis evos) can't say i've noticed any problems, they've always gone really loud (never had it to max)

hope it doesn't deteriorate too much when i get around to some rears

I have a 1705 with 6.1 attached and have been very pleased with its movie performance, much better than my old Aiwa.

Haven't tried it in stereo though, have a different set-up for that side.
