which dvds do you use to demo your home cinema kit?
i tend to use gladiator, saving pte ryan, jurassic park and u-571, are there any others that are good for this purpose

Dont forget those 'Oompa Loompa' songs from Willy Wonka, best thing to use as a demo when shopping for new equipment. honest!

Fifth Element - Opera scene and weapons demo
Das Boat - any depth charge scene and for the very quiet moments with water dripping in the sub, great atmosphere
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - fight scenes
Stargate DTS - Gate power up, going through the gate and 'rings' decending
Jurassic Park the bit where the flocking dinasaurs run past you up either side of the room.
Vertical Limit Excellent if unexpected surround sound during avalanche scenes
Independence day - white house bit
ARMAGEDDON - New York scene
DRAGONHEART - ch.12 (i think)where the dragon flies round Dennis Quad
THE MATRIX - most of it but the opening, training and lobby scenes
TOY STORY 2 - crossing the road
Gladiator - opening battle
Blade - Disco scene
Starship Troopers - BUGS!

For vision
Any Pixar release like Toy Story, A Bugs life etc

Also try the Dolby, DTS and THX idents.
The T2 THX one is very good. As is the DTS one on the T2 and Stargate discs

Shrek, The Phantom Menace, U-571, T2 DTS, Gladiator, Matrix, Moulin Rouge, Way of the Gun (the shootouts), Swordfish (the explosion)...
Depends on who's visiting, I try to find something to match their taste...

Face/off has a great opening chapter, I dug mine out last night after not having watched it for a long time. Recent upgrades to my system resulted in a large pot of cactus shaking off a shelf and spilling over the floor much to the delight of the better half :D
